Today, you’re going to hear from Dr. Katherine Tonks—my FIRST guest from Australia!

Katherine Tonks is the founder of Sydney Endocrinology; a Staff Specialist of the Department of Endocrinology at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney; Visiting Medical Officer at the Mater Hospital, Sydney; and Clinical Research Officer of the Diabetes and Obesity Research Program, Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Sydney.

She is a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, and an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame.

In 2016, she completed a PhD looking at the molecular causes of insulin resistance and diabetes.

Dr. Tonks’ areas of interest are diabetes (type 1, type 2, and pregnancy-related), insulin resistance (including polycystic ovarian syndrome), thyroid disorders, obesity and other endocrine diseases.

She continues to teach medical students and actively participates in ongoing medical research.

In the episode, Dr. Tonks debunks some common misconceptions surrounding weight loss, weight gain, and conditions like type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance. I know you’re gonna learn SO much from everything she shares!
